Chairperson Madam Edwina Crump Zackpah has reassured the new head of the National Identification Registry (NIR) regarding LTA’s commitment to collaboration. The assurance was given during a productive meeting held on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, between LTA and the NIR. The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen cooperation between the two entities.

During the meeting, Hon. Andrew Peters, the newly appointed Executive Director of the NIR, expressed the willingness of his institution to work closely with LTA in implementing plans for utilizing the NIR verification platform for SIM card registration. In response, Chairperson Zackpah reiterated LTA’s commitment to working hand in hand with NIR, emphasizing the importance of national ID cards in achieving the digital transformation objectives the Government of Liberia set.

LTA and NIR agreed to immediately reconvene a joint technical working group to address any challenges related to using the NIR platform for verifying telecommunications SIM card registration. The purpose of this group will be to collaborate on resolving any issues that may arise.

Chairperson Zackpah was accompanied by Hon. James Gbarwea, LTA’s Commissioner of Engineering and Technology, and members of LTA’s technical team during the meeting held at the Ministry of State.
